What does carbon removal mean?

Carbon Removal - sometimes called Carbon Dioxide Removal, or CDR for short - is an emerging group of methods and solutions to take CO2 out of the atmosphere and store it - sequester it - for a period of time.

Depending on the type of solution, it might lock the carbon away for tens, hundreds or thousands of years. The longer the better!

Carbon dioxide removed and stored durably from the atmosphere isn't out there, contributing to global heating and climate change.

Projects and companies that remove and store carbon from the air are able to issue credits for the amount of carbon removed that can be bought, to fund continued carbon removal.

That's it. Easy peasy.
